On April 14, 2017, the revised national mandatory standards gb2099.3-2015 "household and similar purpose plugs and sockets - part 2-5: special requirements for converters" and gb2099.7-2015 "household and similar purpose plugs and sockets - part 2-7; special requirements for the operation of extension cords" will be formally implemented.
Starting from April 14, 2017, enterprises only need to produce loads of new gb products. For products sold on the market, a transitional period is set until October 13, 2018.
It is understood that the country has previously released two versions of the national standard. The first edition was GB 2099.3-1997 "household and similar purpose plugs and sockets part 2: special requirements for converters", which came into effect on May 1, 1999. The second edition is the gb2099.3-2008 plug and socket for household and similar purposes - part 2: particular requirements for converters. Compared with the first version, the biggest change is to cancel the socket on the "universal hole", use the national standard combination hole, namely "small five holes".
There are four major changes to the revised standards. One is to add protective doors. It is mandatory to install a protective door on the socket of the cable board to prevent direct contact between the conductive metal inside the socket and the external conductive foreign body, so as to avoid electric shock accidents caused by accidental contact of children's fingers or metal objects. Second, the power cord is bold. For an extension socket with rated current of 10A, the minimum cross-sectional area of the conductor shall be increased from 0.75 square mm to 1 square mm. The rating of 16A was increased from 1 mm to 1.5 mm. Improve the capacity of the socket, reduce the safety accidents caused by cable overload. Third, the material flame retardant promotion. New national standard added needle flame test detection items. For socket insulation material requirements increase, ABS shell no longer meet the new requirements. Iv. Product name change and compulsory CCC certification requirements: product name unified specification is with line product for extension cord socket, without line product for mobile socket converter. It is mandatory that the product be CCC certified and marked on the package.
